The world has blessed us with countless backpacking spots.
Just in the U.S, there are so many places that will keep everyone ogling and Mother Nature bragging. Oregon in particular has some of the best backpacking trips we’ve ever experienced.
Check out the list below.
If Portland is your origin point, then Mount Hood should be on the top of your list. It’s nearby and boasts of old-growth forests and backcountry campsites perfect for a family, friends or couple’s getaway. Don’t forget to check out Timothy Lake, Mirror Lake, and Salmon River Trail.
Columbia River Gorge
This spot is popular for day hiking. However, you can also bask in the beauty for a while longer thanks to the trails that link Wahtum Lake near Mount Hood with Eagle Creek. Booking a short trip here will definitely be one of the best decisions you will ever make.
If it’s breathtaking wilderness, alpine lakes and huge volcanoes you’re after, then Three Sisters should be your next trip. Be prepared to stay there for a while because this place has some of the most scenic spots we’ve ever encountered. For starters, aim for an overnight backpacking trip from Bend, hiking into Green Lakes and sleeping beneath South Sister.
Crater Lake National Park
Southern Oregon is home to some of the country’s most picturesque backpacking trails. You can circle the lake on a multi-day journey and enjoy fishing or rafting afterwards. Don’t forget to include the Rogue River Trail and Diamond Peak while you’re at it.
