There’s more to India than the Taj Mahal and the pink palaces of Jaipur.
In fact, anyone’s who has explored the Land of Mystery and Diversity would vouch for the majestic Himachal Pradesh — the northern Indian state in the Himalayas.
Here are the places you must visit while you’re there.
India is rich with backpacking destinations others only dream. A three-hour trek from the little town of Mcleod Ganj will bring you to Triund. It’s every trekker’s paradise thanks to its breathtaking views, adorable mountain dogs and the sea of clouds. You can take in the scenery while enjoying your warm cup of tea and parantha.
If you don’t want to exert too much effort hiking through rough trails, Kasol is your best bet. Many heads out here for its mountain views, infinite greenery, and gorgeous lakes. Be sure to pack up some snacks because this place would make you want to stay longer.
Imagine this: A grandiose lake dotted with monasteries, authentic restaurants, hip cafes and quaint homes. This is what the little town of Rewalsar has to offer. Don’t be deceived by its size though. What it has in store is going to keep you entertained for a while. The best part? It’s the least crowded out of all the places in Himachal Pradesh.
If you’re a beginner trekker, visiting Kheerganga is a must. It takes about three hours to get there but the place is worth the wait. From snow top peaks to hot water springs, your Instagram feed will be filled with jaw-dropping photos. Oh, and the place comes with cheap accommodations.
Before you start exploring, keep in mind these places don’t come with ATM’s. If they do, it’s going to take more than an hour to get there. Be sure to bring cash with you and of course, a thirst for adventure.
